A Bit of Good News

I got a new job today and I am pretty excited about it! In two weeks I will be working with The Franklin Group Real Estate Company. I have learned a lot from working at John W. Hansen & Associates but I am happy to have a fresh start at this new job with the experience that I have gained. Also... Jason is going in for his second interview for a cabinet designer position at a place in Layton tomorrow, so keep your fingers crossed for him! Here's to new beginnings!

LOVE (with two "O"s)

My Husband. There are many reasons why but today it is because of these...
My new bedroom curtains that I LOVE. I have been looking for new curtains for our bedroom for a while. But unfortunately I felt like I "painted" myself into a corner as far as the curtain options because we painted our bedroom a light shade of blue before we moved in. **TIP: It is EXTREMELY difficult to get the perfect shade of blue. After about 3-4 blue samples were painted on our walls I finally settled with the current blue in our room. Which I am not in love with...it's too blue and not enough grey. But it was crunch time and I had to just go for it. Maybe one of these days when I am feeling ambitous I will repaint it.** I LOVE red but I have NO red in my house, until now. I found the perfect pair of curtains with all of the colors that I love that still matched my blue walls at a store called Cost Plus World Market in California. So I brought them home and was going to wait to put them up until I found the perfect comforter to match. I thought it was going to take a long time to find the perfect one or that I would have to end up making one (I don't even know if you can make a comforter but I was going to try), BUT a few days later I found one at Target and bonus it was on SALE! So I got home that night around 10:00 and wasn't expecting to put the room together that night because Jason had had a headache all day. BUT he knows me so well and knows that when I get something new or start a project I have to finish it. And he was awesome enough to offer to put up these curtains at 10:00 at night even though he didn't feel good. THAT is why I love my husband today.
Even though he might not completely understand why our room (which pretty much WE only see) needs to look good, he knows that it makes me happy to have beautiful surroundings. I am very grateful that when I come home with a new decoration or think of a new home improvement project, he is right there beside me (actually usually he is on a ladder) with a screwdriver ready to work! And now I feel like we have a somewhat "grown-up" bedroom with some things that match instead of a hodge podge of accessories.

Another thing I LOVE is that my cousin Tiawni (prounounced tee-ahn-ee) is home from her mission. (Disclaimer- this is not the best picture but I didn't have another one of us handy so I did it small so you can't see it very well.)
We have been really close since we were little. She recently got home from a mission in Houston, Texas. She also recently moved to North Ogden and began working for a dentist. SO we have been able to hang out a few times since she has been home and I LOVE it! She makes me laugh so hard. When we were little I would get the WORST headaches when we would hang out cuz I would constantly be laughing. Also- Jason and I have been racking our brains to find some nice young man to set her up with but we just can't think of anyone. So if you have any suggestions leave me a comment! I know I am shameless!

26?!?!?!?!?!?!

Yep! Jason is 26! I can't believe I am married to someone so old! Good thing he doesn't act like it! ;) and Yep! That is a GIANT 7 LAYER ice cream cake that I made to commemorate! That night we went to P.F. Changs (Jason's fave) with his family and then came back to our house for cake with family and some friends.

Jason is a really hard person to buy presents for because whenever you ask him what he wants, he says I don't know, I don't really need anything. I am trying to teach him that birthdays and Christmas are not for needs they are for wants. So this year for his birthday I came up with my own idea. I decided to plan a surprise little getaway to California for us. He usually goes to California every summer to see an Angels game but we didn't go this summer and I felt bad that he didn't get to go to a game so I thought it would be awesome if I could pull of a big surprise for his birthday and guess what... I DID!

I planned a 4 day trip to California where we could go to an Angels game and Six Flags (also one of Jason's faves). It was short but sweet! I love California. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am no good at keeping secrets or surprises. I get so excited to give the gift that I usually end up telling the person what it is or giving it to them early. But I was determined to see this through. I made a book with an itenirary and other information for him to open on his birthday, along with a new angels shirt for us both. He was speechless. It was so awesome! And I was so proud of myself!

Manhattan Beach- a few miles from our hotel. Regretfully we could not stay at Grammy and Grandpa Jack's. They had a full house for most of September!
This is the bird (I am not sure if its a crane or pelican or neither) that was fishing from the pier. He must do that a lot because he was not bothered by people at all. Except for this really stupid girl who kept trying to get close to him for a picture but every time she would get near him she would scream. I seriously wanted to push her over the pier. (Is that a normal reaction? I just don't have much of a tolerance for screaming teenage girls.)

Boogie boarding at Huntington Beach. The boys spent a few hours out on the boogie boards. And Jason's cherry red back is evidence.
As Jason and I were walking back to the beach we saw this little guy swimming around in the water underneath the pier. The next thing we knew he was swimming up to shore and looking at the people and then would dive back into the water and swim around with the guys on surf boards. I think it was one of the cutest things I have ever seen!

Angels vs. White Sox. I hope Jason doesn't find out I said this but there is something beautiful about baseball stadiums. When we are watching games on TV I spend half the time looking at the stadium. I love how they each have their own unique things like the way they cut the grass.

This was the first roller coaster that we went on at Six Flags. Look crazy? That's probably because it is and so are the people who ride it.

After about an hour of waiting we are almost there!
This is how I really felt about it!
This is another one of the crazy roller coasters called Goliath. I think I liked this one better though cuz you are in actual cars, not strapped into a seat that twists around the entire ride.
I wasn't in much of a picture taking mood so we didn't get that many cool pictures. Oh another cool thing was that my sister Hailey, or HayHay (as Jason affectionately calls her in a really gay voice) flew to LA to visit Andrew for the weekend. So we went to dinner with them one night and then she drove home with us. It was fun to get to spend some time with her.
