NOW- I am no outdoors-y kinda girl and Jason knew that fair and square when we got married. But I am willing to go on a small fishing or small camping trip every now and again (and by that I mean about once a year). So when J suggested that we go fishing and that he had the "perfect" spot... "right off of the road"...where it would be "fine" to wear my flip-flops, I thought what the heck!

Needless to say it wasn't quite what I imagined! We drove up to a place called Coalville, which was only about a 30 min. drive from our house. When we arrived at the river we had to climb up and down a ladder that was built over a barbed wire fence, then trek down a muddy, grassy path dotted with cow dung and animal bones. This might sound weird but I am one of those people (I hope there are others out there besides myself) that will walk on the sidewalk even if it means taking a longer route- I don't know why I do it, I just do. So walking in the grass and mud was not ideal! We finally got to the actual river, tried to find a decent spot to fish, unloaded all of our crap and began casting.

Well I was the master at getting my lure stuck in just about anything possible. You name it- tree branches, rocks, grass... so for the first little while J spent A LOT of time rescuing my lure. I felt bad but it was entertaining at the same time to watch him trudge through mud up to his knees! Not long after we got there J just took his shoes off and didn't put them back on the rest of the time. It was a little frustrating at first and I was very tempted to throw a temper tantrum when things just weren't working out, but everything started to look up after I caught my first fish!
Jason-holding my first catch of the day! I wasn't quite brave enough to hold it for a picture but he wanted to make sure you could tell just how big it was! Notice his very muddy feet and legs! Too bad J and I don't really like to eat fish or else this one would have been a good one to eat! It was weird the feeling of pride I had in the two fish I caught, a part of me wanted to keep the fish and slap them down on the table in front of my dad (who does eat fish) and say EAT! But I was really happy to let them go back into the water where they belong.

Jason with his first catch of the day! Not quite as big as mine I might add!

Jason flicking the eggs off of his shirt-compliments of his first catch of the day! GROSS!

Me with my second catch of the day! I think this one is even bigger than the first! I was more brave this time and held it up next to me.

Jason reeling in his second catch of the day. Unfortunately, just after this video stopped, this stubborn fish snapped Jason's line. So we didn't get a really good picture, and somewhere swimming around in the river is a big fish with an equally big lure stuck in his mouth- sort of like a tongue ring or a lip ring I guess. Maybe all the girl fishies will think its hot....
