Jason's birthday happened to be a few weeks ago and he happened to turn 27! Can you believe that... if not, his hair is a testament to his age. But I'm not opposed to the distinguished salt and pepper look. Especially now that he is going to be a daddy. Which brings me back to the whole reason for this post.
We thought it would be a good excuse to get both of our families together at the same time for a "birthday" party for Jason to tell them the good news. So we plotted the entire thing very sneakily... complete with e-vites, a pool, hamburgers and hot dogs, and a special birthday cake made by the one and only Hailey Morris.
I was so anxious the entire time. I hardly ate (which was noted by my mother), my dad asked quizzically about the bruise where I had my blood drawn for our first prenatal appointment just days before. Why I had it? What doctor I went to? Why? Eventually I just walked away. I think I had finally gotten used to keeping this a secret and now we were going to tell everyone. I don't know what I was nervous about, we'll just blame the nerves on the baby. After everyone was tuckered out from swimming, with full bellies, we brought in the birthday cake.
I made a blabbering introduction to the cake which eventually led to me crying and everyone considerably confused about why this birthday cake was so special. Then my sister brought it in.
It didn't take anyone very long to realize why I was crying or why I didn't eat much or why I had a bruise on my arm. It was one of the more exciting birthday parties I've been to or thrown for that matter.
Happy Birthday Daddy! I'm almost as excited to see J become a father as I am to hold my little one in my arms. He will be exceptional!
Can I have one of these please???? Complete with lemonade dripping off the chin and down the shirt? We've taught this little man to lift up my shirt when we ask where the baby is. He even kissed my belly once.
