Part 1: My final rendezvous with Oliver
Jason and I had been in newly-wedded bliss for about four months and now it was his brother's turn to be the newly-wed in the family. He was getting married in Logan on an early September morning. Jason and I decided to go up early and spend a night in an undisclosed, less than 4 star and somewhat stiff-smelling hotel that fit into our newly-wed-and-still-in-school budget. At the time, Jason was working in North Ogden so after work we met up to drive to Logan together, leaving his car at the Park and Ride.
The next morning came quickly and we rushed to the Logan temple for the ceremony. Our car was filled with all of the essentials for the wedding day. Change of clothes, snacks, camera, gifts, etc... as we had no plans of returning home until late that night. The ceremony was a sweet reminder of our own wedding day, but the day itself did not go as quickly as our own had. By the time we were done with the usual wedding pictures, luncheon, and reception we were exhausted. We drove home late that night only to realize, as we pulled into our house, that we had forgotten Jason's car at the Park and Ride in North Ogden.
We made an executive decision to pick up his car the next day instead of driving back to North Ogden on so little energy. We then drug ourselves into our house, leaving most of the aforementioned wedding day essentials in the car... including my camera, Oliver.
I don't name all of my possessions; in fact that camera was the only thing I've loved so much that I just had to give it a name. At the time I purchased Oliver, he was undoubtedly the most expensive purchase I had made. He was my cherished Nikon D60 and I had put a lot of thought into bringing him into my life. I took him most everywhere with me. And although a little irresponsible, I must admit he was frequently in the backseat of my car because you just never know when the perfect moment will be to take the perfect photo.
As I closed my eyes that night, I had no idea the events of the next day would lead to the loss of my first love...
