Does anyone else ever feel this way?Nonetheless, I am very grateful for my 23 years.
I have a great husband who I don't fight with very often, a very loud and somewhat dysfunctional family, a good job that isn't boring all of the time, and a somewhat obedient doggy who hasn't chewed up everything in our house.
I am also grateful for my supposed baby face.
(Birthday #1. Do you think this birthday boy resembles me at all? Maybe not, but an Aunt can dream!)
A guy in my office found out it was my birthday yesterday and this is how it went:
Co-Worker: "Happy Birthday! How old are you?"
Me: "How old do you think I am?"
(don't you just love that one day out of 365, you can play this game?)
Co-Worker: "Ummm...20, No 19, NOOO 18!!!
Me (chuckling): "Nope...23!"
Co-Worker: "No way! You're not THAT old!"
It's official ladies and gentlemen! For the very first time...on my 23rd birthday... someone used the phrase "that old" to describe me.I think people say that with the intentions of paying you a compliment, when really it just makes you think that whatever age was soooo difficult for them to believe you were... is old.
Proof that I actually have had 23 birthdays:
Birthday #2: Celebrating with some cousins
I have no proof of Birthdays 3, 4, & 5
Birthday #6: Party Hardy!!Woo Woo!
Birthday #7: My mom made some rockin' cakes! Maybe that's why I try to do the same for Jason.
Birthday #8: Gotta love the pioneering days of scrap booking, cutting around the heads with decorative scissors to forever ruin the integrity of the original photo... awesome!
Birthdays #9-22: lost in translation, but I promise they happened.
Postscript: On the non-pop drinking front... things are going well. I decided that movie theaters would be my free zone (and I have to actually be in the movie theater watching a movie...not just driving by). After that decision, I started wanting to go to a movie every week... and that got to be mucho $$$.
So then I decided to allow myself ONE pop every week. So far that has worked out great and sometimes I don't have any pop all week.
I don't really think about it much anymore which is the biggest victory. I think I have broken the addiction part of pop drinking, now I just need to keep with it.
I did horrible this week. Jason (being the little tempter that he is) brought me a DP for Valentines Day... Sweet of him or not? I can't decide.
Then on Monday... Well it WAS Presidents Day... and ALMOST my birthday...
Then yesterday WAS my birthday so...
But I am recommitted for the rest of the week... no month... no year... we'll see!

Yeah for birthdays! Happy Birthday! And don't worry I feel like that sometimes too...and Chad would also be rolling his eyes about now! But I've decided that I feel that way because I am surrounded by such accomplished people too, but if you think about everyone in the world and the opportunities they have compared to what we have....I would say we have accomplished lots! Or maybe I just say that to make myself feel better?...
