All a girl can ask for are cabinet doors and some cabinet jewelry right?
Oh and a brand new oven!
1. These are less than professional pictures (not sure what is up with my camera-need to check some settings I guess) of what the kitchen looked like Friday night.
Taking the cabinet doors off to paint was such a spur of the moment decision (2 months ago) that I didn't even have a chance to locate the camera to take actual before pictures. Just think- 23 year old oak cabinets. Use your imagination.

It was a great weekend to say the least.

Oh and did you notice the oven?
Pretty awesome huh!
2. This is what the kitchen looked like Monday morning. Almost there.

Notice the paint on the blasted oven. It was nice to redirect my anger from my husband to the oven. Even though the oven was a perfectly innocent victim in the whole thing.
3. And this is what the kitchen looks like today! Love it! It makes our quaint home seem so much brighter and larger.

And this is the shining glory of our new kitchen. A week has past since... you know what... and I'm ecstatic with our new oven. I cooked our first meal on it yesterday. Sublime!
It was totally worth not having cabinet doors for 2 months, the oven incident, the insane amount of paint fumes we inhaled last weekend and all of the work we did. I couldn't be happier. And the counter tops don't even bother me that much. I think the wood trim (who does that?) is less noticeable with everything else going on. It almost compliments the laminate wood floor.
But no more home improvement projects for a while. I used to be the one with all the project ideas, but now that Jason does cabinets all day long, he is always suggesting things we should do to the house. I'm happy with how it is... at least for another 3 months or so.
