Slightly Creepy

This year for Halloween we all dressed up! Yes even baby Harper made an appearance (sort of, in a creepy kind of way). Did I just let his name slip... why yes I did! For now that's his name. And unless something crazy happens (like he turns into a she) that will probably stay his name forever. Now that is power right there! Getting to name another person. Don't worry I haven't taken that power lightly but I also haven't stressed over it. I've been wanting baby Harper to be in our family for a while now. We love the name and hope he does too.

Every time someone asks what we are going to name our baby, I get this sick nervous feeling in my stomach because I'm so scared that I'll tell someone and they will hate it (because I have been there and done that when I've been told names). And then I'm scared that their opinion will make me second guess myself and my love for the name. But you know what- it's our decision and if someone else hates it I don't really care... it's not your baby. Jason and I have loved that name for a long time now. Jason thinks it sounds like a good sports name. I'm pretty sure he runs all of our boys names through a mental test that goes something like this: Hey "insert name" throw me the ball/ Good pass "insert name"/ or Good game "insert name" (with a pat on the butt). Although I'm sure the terminology is his head is much more technical that. And me, well I can just picture a good looking- albeit short- young man. I would totally have dated a guy named Harper.

Back to Halloween- and my super awesome and somewhat creepy costume. I found this idea online and knew I had to do it this year. We took the arms and legs from a doll purchased at the D.I. and stuck them through small holes in my shirt to look like the baby was poking through to go trick or treating. If this baby is anything like me he will LOVE Halloween, so it really fits that he couldn't wait one more year for his first!

We walked into my family's Halloween party and everyone thought it was pretty creepy but also funny (I think). I may have scarred P.J. however. He knows there is a baby in my belly and will give the baby kisses. That night, he just kept staring at my belly trying to figure out what was going on. Eventually towards the end of the night I got him to kiss the foot of the baby. Hope that doesn't cause him any long term trauma. We had a really fun night with good food, family, and fun games including a relatively dangerous scavenger hunt with the Mad Hatter as our driver. Can't wait for baby's first "real" Halloween experience. I'm already thinking of costume ideas.

P.S... I don't know what's more creepy... the baby coming out of my belly or Jason's facial expression in the second picture. I get the chills every time I look at it- creepo!

Love you fun Merrills. I'm sad Halloween is over and we STILL haven't gotten together... however, cider and other fall festivities don't neccessarily have to end so... call me!! The costume, creepy but DANG clever! The name..... LOVE it. I felt the SAME way. People are WAY too opinionated. Harli was Halli until a few weeks before she was born. I was STUCK on H names for a good while. Harper went through the name game as well. My hardest part.. was getting the other half to agree on my little configurations. Hope you are feeling great. Let's chit-chat soon little lady.
